Description

QUALIFICATIONS:  Appropriate certification as required by the Indiana Department of Education.  Master of Science degree in school psychology and / or Ed. S.  Experience preferred.

 

 

REPORTS TO:     Director of Special Services 

 

 

JOB GOAL:  To deliver comprehensive school psychological services to those students who are experiencing difficulty in their school functioning.  Contributes to the overall vision and mission of the corporation.                   

 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

 

  1. Maintain an understanding of the operation, programs, policies, and procedures of the corporation.
  2. Establish and maintain relationships with other professionals who provide services to children and families.  Collaborate with these professionals in preventions, assessment, and intervention efforts as necessary.  Cooperate with advocates representing children and their families.
  3. Maintain a cooperative relationship with colleagues and co-workers in the best mutual interest of students, in a manner consistent with goals of the corporation.  Conflicts should be resolved in a professional manner. 
  4. Is knowledgeable about community agencies and resources.  Provide liaison and consulting services to the community and agencies regarding psychological, mental health, and education issues.
  5. Conduct psychological and psycho educational assessments of children, completes evaluations within prescribed timelines; prepare a written report of results.
  6. Interprets test results to members of the case conference committee and participates in determining students’ eligibility.
  7. Consult and collaborate with parents, school, and outside personnel regarding mental health, behavioral and education concerns.  Assist in developing procedures for promoting mental health and learning and improving educational systems.
  8. Participate in preschool arena assessments.
  9. Maintains assessment logs and appropriate records.

10. Provide skill enhancement activities such as in-service training, organizational development, parent counseling, program planning and evaluation, vocational development, and parent education programs to school personnel, parents and other in the community, regarding issues of human learning, development, and behavior.

11. Assist with the development of the students’ Individual Education Plans (I.E.P.’s) and Functional Behavior Assessment (F.B.A.’s)

12. Collaborate in developing general education interventions; participate in building based teams when appropriate.

13. Advise principals and special education personnel, on an ongoing basis, of appropriate special education procedures and laws.

14. Is responsible for professional growth and development, keeps abreast of improving techniques, research findings, and new literature; attends professional meetings and conventions as appropriate.

15. Attend co-op, departmental, district-wide meetings and designated Annual Case Reviews as requested.

16. Perform other reasonably-related duties as may be assigned by the director of special services, including working with other schools or school districts in the NCI cooperative.
